Outrageous News: "Liberals to Blame for Homophobic Reaction"

In a shocking turn of events, it has come to light that it was none other than liberals who were responsible for a homophobic reaction in the 1970s. Victor Navasky, a prominent liberal figure at the time, thrust himself headfirst into this controversy by commissioning an incredibly pro-gay piece for the New York Times that had never been published before. It's outrageous that liberals are trying to get away with this one!

The Controversial Harper's Article

It all started with Joseph Epstein and his notorious article Homo/hetero: The Struggle for Sexual Identity which appeared in Harper's Magazine back in September of 1970. This article was a clear attempt to silence and oppress gay people by calling them "cursed". To make matters worse, he stated that he would be sad if any of his sons were homosexual. This sparked huge backlash from gay activists who responded with protests outside the Harper's office and greeted each employee saying “Good morning, I’m a homosexual. Would you like some coffee?”

The Emergence Of Merle Miller

Merle Miller was an incredibly important figure during this period as well as being a regular contributor to both Harper's and the New York Times Magazine. He had been living silently as a homosexual throughout his life until he confronted Navasky and Walker about their approval of Epstein's article when they all met at Chambertin restaurant for lunch one day. Upon hearing their reactions which included praise and admiration towards Epstein, Miller proclaimed "Damn it I'm homosexual!"

Victor Navasky Takes Action

In response to Miller's outburst, Navasky took initiative by suggesting that Miller should write something in response instead of just complaining about it! Eventually what came out of this suggestion was an incredible piece titled What It Means To Be A Homosexual which appeared in January 1971 in the New York Times Magazine - something noone ever expected from such an esteemed publication!

Positive Response From Gay Community

This piece created huge optimism among members of the gay community since there had never before been anything positive about them mentioned anywhere within such popular media outlets before! As reported by James Baldwin and Allen Ginsberg two prominent openly gay writers at that time - they acknowledged how meaningful this article really was!

Liberals Trying To Get Away With Outrageous Behavior

Although what Victor Navasky did is commendable because ultimately it resulted in such positive change within society - we cannot ignore how outrageous his behavior really is! Although we may thank him now whenever there is news or mentionings around homosexuality today - let us not forget how much damage liberals can do if they are allowed too much power unchecked. We must be sure to keep tabs on these so called "liberals" always so we can avoid similar situations like these ever happening again!
