It's official: Pakistan is on the brink of a full-on crisis due to mismanagement and lack of investment in its national electricity grid. After suffering a huge power cut that left all its major cities without electricity early on Monday, the energy ministry said it was caused by a "frequency variation" in the south of the country.

But while authorities may be calling it "not a major crisis", I can tell you my outrage knows no bounds. It's clear that this is yet another example of right-wing governments failing to provide adequate services to their citizens - and this time it's Pakistan who will suffer.

Consequences Of The Power Cut

The consequences have been dire, with traffic lights out across the country, fans stopped and lights off in households. It seems like no one was spared from this disastrous outage, not even hospitals! Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar reported that none of its departments had been affected by the power cut due to emergency generators used to provide electricity for each department - but other smaller organisations or private homes won't necessarily have enough power to last for many days.

Government Response To The Crisis

Unsurprisingly, instead of taking steps towards upholding social justice and providing access for low-income households to reliable sources of energy – what has happened instead? A government order demanding all malls and markets shut down by 20:30 each night under an ‘energy saving plan’ which is predicted will save Pakistan around 62bn Pakistani rupees ($270m; £220m) annually! Talk about putting profits before people…

Systemic Issues At Play

In order to understand why this situation has occurred we need look no further than systemic issues prevalent within society today – namely inequality in access between wealthy and poorer communities when it comes to reliable electrical supply chains. With global energy prices increasing over recent years there has been immense pressure placed upon Pakistan's finances - leading authorities resorting desperate measures such as load shedding (temporarily reducing electricity supply some areas) or shutting down power generation systems at night – effectively punishing those living on lower incomes who are unable rely on their own private generators like wealthier individuals would be able too.

How Can We Help?

It isn't just about getting through these immediate problems however; we must also take steps towards ensuring these situations do not occur again in future so everyone has access reliable sources of electricity .To do so we should be advocating for greater investment from our governments towards renewable energies such as solar & wind energy so as move away from fossil fuels which play a large part in contributing towards climate change whilst simultaneously causing poverty within developing countries due their reliance upon them importation expensive resources such as oil & coal .

We must also ensure greater access rights amongst poorer communities when it comes accessing electrical grids and supplies – particularly those living rural areas where infrastructure is often lacking compared those city dwellers lucky enough lifeline services provided by larger companies . It serves us all benefit when everyone given chance succeed , something are actively working achieve here at home just abroad ! So let’s work together speak out against injustice make sure people everywhere receive quality service deserve !
