It looks like Meta – the social media giant – has decided that former President Donald Trump can be allowed back on both its Facebook and Instagram platforms after a two year ban because of his online behavior which would lead to an insurrection by his supporters at the US Capitol in January 6th.
People are pretty mad about this decision because it could lead to more political violence and all that stuff. But other people are also pleased with the decision. There have been a lot of colorful reactions from people who are angry at Meta for making this decision but also some politicians and commentators who think it's dangerous too.
Meta said that Trump will be able to keep saying he didn't lose the 2020 election even though we all know he did (in case anyone was wondering). But if he starts casting doubt about the 2024 presidential election then they're gonna take action against him or something like that. That part wasn't really clear...
So current President Joe Biden is getting ready for a speech which is going bash Republicans over their expected hardball tactics when it comes to government spending – from aid for Ukraine’s war effort to US social benefits money and stuff like that.
So apparently the US economy still grew by 2.9% last quarter despite high interest rates and fears about a looming recession.
President Joe Biden is gonna head over Virginia today afternoon and give out some speeches regarding the economy in some union office or whatever.
And finally in other news...there might be a showdown/staring contest between Democrats & Republicans concerning debt ceiling issues — where basically Republican leaders want cuts in Social Security & Medicare money #OhNo #helpme :'( ....That doesn't seem very fun.... :(
